Have you just bought a bedwetting alarm against bedwetting, or are you considering buying one? We have compiled a list of golden rules based on the experiences of thousands of people who were once in the same boat as you! If you keep to this rules consistently, you will greatly increase the effectiveness of the bedwetting alarm method!
1. Choose a user-friendly alarm
Today, children experience user friendliness very differently from us when we were young. It is therefore important to use a system that meets a number of minimum requirements that today’s children have.
Wires and loud analog alarms are old fashioned. Everything should be customisable these days. If you meet these minimum conditions, your child will be more willing to join the adventure towards dry nights!
2. Motivate your child daily
To implement the bedwetting alarm method successfully, it is extremely important that your explain to your child that the bedwetting alarm will help to prevent them from wetting the bed. The main goal is for your child to wake up when they have to pee and that they finish peeing on the toilet. Explain that the bedwetting alarm method only works if the child is involved and cooperative!
You child will probably not be aware that more than 14% of 6-year-olds still regularly wet the bed. Tell your child that they are not alone!
3. Involve your child in unpacking and setting the alarm
We will send you an amazing Dryly® bedwetting alarm that will make your child very happy! Use this to your advantage by unpacking the bedwetting alarm together with your child. Our cute panda, Wizzu, will be an instant hit! If you involve your child from the start, they are more likely to accept the method, which increases the chance of success for the method.
Set up the system together and test it by dropping some water on the underwear. Practice going to right away. By starting the whole process with a smile you will ensure the best cooperation of your child.
4. Discuss the bedtime routine
It is extremely important that your child follows a routine in which you tweak all variables to prevent bedwetting. In addition to limiting the fluid intake, you will also make sure that your child goes to bed relaxed… which is a good thing in itself, right?

5. Set realistic goals
It is unlikely that your child get rid of bedwetting on day one. Research shows that it can take an average of two months for your child to stay dry for two consecutive weeks. This is perfectly normal as you may be dealing with a deep-seated problem.
Share this information with your child so they do not feel pressured or experience any negative energy. Setbacks are very common in a learning process. Let commitment be the benchmark by which you reward or appeal to your child.
6. Show commitment
This bedwetting alarm method against bedwetting only works if you are involved as a carer! Know that you should go to your child every time the alarm goes off. This can be quite tough in the middle of the night, but it will bring you and your child one step closer to carefree nights.
During the first nights, your child may not wake up from the alarm. Wake your child up quietly with the alarm still on, so that he or she gets used to it.
7. Reward your child for commitment
Ask yourself what you want to reward your child for. The risk of rewarding dry nights is that your child will feel punished if they are not rewarded when they have had a night-time accident. This is not the way to do it! It is important to keep in mind that your child is bothered by the bedwetting too, and that they do not do it on purpose.
Our philosophy is that your child should be rewarded for effort, not result. Try to reward your child in such a way that they realise that a dry night is great and that a wet night is part of the process.
Praise your child if they put on the underwear, wake up or follow the sleeping routine!
8. Make your child aware of the consequences of wetting the bed
The bedwetting alarm against bedwetting, as indicated, does not work in isolation. Introduce your child to the consequences of bedwetting in a balanced way. Change the bed together or do laundry just for the sheets to get the bedding clean.
9. Dry? Do not stop just yet!
Try to achieve 14 consecutive dry nights. It has been proven you get better results if you “over-train” to really condition the brain. Maybe your child is convinced that the problem has been solved, but for their own good it is better to continue the method for a while. Since you are nearing the end of the program, you might want to consider a nice reward!
